Your browser stores temporary files (cache) and small pieces of data (cookies) from websites you visit to help them load faster on subsequent visits. While this is usually helpful, sometimes these stored files can become corrupted or outdated, causing problems with live applications like your eSkill assessment.

Follow the steps below for Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to clear your cache and cookies.

Important Notes Before You Start:

  • You will be logged out of most websites. After clearing your cache and cookies, you will need to re-enter your login credentials for sites like Google, Facebook, etc.
  • This process is quick and safe. It will not delete your personal files or programs on your computer.
  • Close your browser completely after clearing the cache and then reopen it before attempting your assessment again.

Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Click the three vertical dots (More actions menu) in the top right corner of the browser window.
  3. Hover over "More tools" and then select "Clear Browse data..."
    • Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows/Linux) or Cmd + Shift + Delete (macOS) to open this menu directly.
  4. In the "Clear Browse data" window:
    • Time range: Select "All time" from the dropdown menu. This ensures you clear everything that might be causing an issue.
    • Check the boxes for:
      • Cached images and files
      • Cookies and other site data
      • (You can uncheck "Browse history" if you wish, as it usually doesn't affect assessment functionality, but clearing it won't hurt.)
  5. Click the "Clear data" button.
  6. Once the process is complete, close all Chrome windows completely.
  7. Reopen Chrome and navigate back to the eSkill assessment link.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Open Edge.
  2. Click the three horizontal dots (Settings and more menu) in the top right corner of the browser window.
  3. Go to "Settings".
  4. In the left-hand menu, click on "Privacy, search, and services".
  5. Under the "Clear Browse data" section, click on "Choose what to clear".
    • Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + Shift + Delete (Windows) to open this menu directly.
  6. In the "Clear Browse data" window:
    • Time range: Select "All time" from the dropdown menu.
    • Check the boxes for:
      • Cached images and files
      • Cookies and other site data
      • (You can uncheck "Browse history" if you wish, as it usually doesn't affect assessment functionality, but clearing it won't hurt.)
  7. Click the "Clear now" button.
  8. Once the process is complete, close all Edge windows completely.
  9. Reopen Edge and navigate back to the eSkill assessment link.
