Management saw how the industry was evolving and knew it needed to implement a pre-employment assessment solution. Its main goals were to help the HR team identify and hire better-qualified candidates, reduce recruiting costs, decrease time-to-hire, and lower employee turnover so the company could maintain its competitive edge in the marketplace.

A “must have” for the HR team was that the pre-employment assessment solution provide measurable data that would help NAVEX Global identify candidates who were the best fit and enable them to generate quantitative analyses so they could ensure consistency in recruiting efforts.

THE SOLUTION

After evaluating several products, the NAVEX Global team chose eSkill because it was easy to use, provided the reporting capabilities they needed, and offered the best overall value.

The team was impressed with how easy it was to create pre-employment assessments. They could opt to use an eSkill standard employment test, or could create custom skills tests by choosing the most relevant subjects and individual questions from the eSkill Test Library. They could even add their own questions with the eSkill Author if needed.

The team was also impressed that eSkill gave them the ability to include simulations and free-response and video questions in pre-employment assessments. Including simulations helped them evaluate important skills such as MS Office proficiency and multitasking abilities, and they could use free-response and video questions to evaluate candidates’ written and verbal communication skills. If they needed help editing existing employment tests or creating new ones, they simply contacted their Customer Success Manager.

THE RESULTS

Once they implemented eSkill, the management team agreed that it was definitely worth the investment. They completed their annual competency testing efficiently and effectively and added many qualified employees to their ranks by using it for recruiting. They were able to hire over 70% of the candidates that passed the employment assessment. Many of those who were not selected applied for and accepted other roles within the company.

The HR team has found the eSkill interface to be intuitive and simple to use, and are very pleased with the robust reporting options it offers. For example, they can easily identify questions that need to be revised because they are posing difficulty for applicants, and better benchmarking tools have helped them develop candidate profiles for each job role so they can create pre-employment assessments that measure the desired attributes.
